Lunch & Learn is an online discussion done “live” with an ABE or field professional on subjects of interest for instructors in the One-Room Schoolhouse (ORSH) setting.
This is a relatively new event, held once so far. Our inaugural discussion was done in October 2018 with Terri Ferris of the AEOA ABE consortium, discussing planning a Math Escape room, and all of its benefits. We discussed the purpose of the Escape Room, how it was CCRS aligned, how it could be modified for other levels and subjects, and some of the differences between doing the Escape Room with students vs. fellow ABE professionals. There are also very interesting pictures, videos and resources to get a better feel for what this can look like. If you were unable to attend the discussion, it is still posted in the ORSH Schoology page, in the Discussions section on the left (once you're inside the Schoology group).
On Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 12:00 pm, the next Lunch & Learn will discuss a pathways to college program with Jody Greniger, a Duluth ABE alum working on the Lake Superior College with the Pathways to College Success program. Find out the goals of the collaboration, the subjects and student demographics involved, and more.
If you are interested in other discussion topics, please send the ideas to Melissa Brusacoram either through Schoology or by email.
